What does the different options mean?
Individual therapy can be defined as a joint process between a therapist and a person in therapy.
Family therapy can be defined as a joint process between one or several therapists and a family in therapy.
Couple’s therapy can be defined as a joint process between a therapist and a couple in therapy.
Group therapy can be defined as a joint process between one or several therapists and a group in therapy.
Why does Healper need this information?
We need to know this information to find the best therapist for you, as many therapists are specialized or at least more experienced within certain areas of expertise.
What does this question mean?
In this question we ask of you to tell us how much your challenge affects your quality of life. We ask this question to get you the best matching therapist, as some therapists are more experienced within certain degrees of how much a challenge affects their clients.
Why is this question important?
This question is important for your match, because it gives us a good indicator of which personality you could benefit from having in a therapist.
How do I choose my five words?
You choose your five words by looking at the list and when you see a word that you feel fits your personality, you can click and choose that one.
This is of course not the only question we base your match on, so don’t overthink it too much.
What do you mean by significant life improvement?
We define a significant life improvement as a healing process, where one through changing habits, changing social circle, travelling, reading, or something else, find out more about oneself so as one can address these findings and improve upon oneself through them.
What’s the difference between “listen and comfort” and “help me find a solution”?
In this question, you should think of what kind of support you need from your nearest, such as your family and friends. Do you need to discuss solutions to your problems, i.e. find a solution, or do you just want to talk and for them to really listen so you can feel understanded, i.e. listen and comfort?
What is the difference between participant and listener?
An active participant can be defined as an individual who actively relates and challenges the things you say in a conversation, to help you gain new insights into your own thinking. By contrast, a thoughtful listener is more passive in the conversation, and would rather lean back and listen without judgement, to contemplate what you are saying, so as to better understand you.
What is the difference between a structured and an open conversation?
Structured conversations, by definition, follow an already agreed upon structure such as going through a list of questions without deviating from them. Open conversations can be regarded as the opposite of this. Here, there is little to no structure, and the conversations center around whatever you and your therapist would like to talk about.
What do you define as a peer?
We define the word peer as meaning: A person who is the same age or has the same social position or the same abilities as yourself.
What do you define as a mentor?
We define the word mentor as meaning: A person who gives a less experienced person help and advice over the course of therapy.
An individual session with an authorized psychologist will cost around 1000 Dkk.
If you choose 1200 Dkk and above, you will be able to match with all therapists on Healper. This means you will have a greater chance of finding someone who can help you with your challenge.
  • Besides the below checks, we always interview new therapists before they can be part of our matching service.

Is gender important in the therapeutic alliance?
We know of no scientific studies that indicate that the specific gender of a therapist has any effect on the therapeutic alliance.
This question is only asked to accommodate any wishes from you, the client, if you for whatever reason feel more comfortable talking about your challenges with someone who identifies with a specific gender.
Is age important in the therapeutic alliance?
We know of no scientific studies that indicate that the specific age of a therapist has any effect on the therapeutic alliance.
This question is only asked to accommodate any wishes from you, the client, if you for whatever reason feel more comfortable talking about your challenges with someone with a specific age.
Here you can further specify what the focus of your therapy should be. When choosing a focus, we will match you with a therapist with the same focus through their therapeutic method.
If you have a very specific therapy method in mind, e.g. a subset of cognitive therapy, please choose “I already have a specific therapeutic method in mind: show me more options”, and we will direct you to a more in-depth list of therapeutic methods.
If you do not know what the focus of your therapy should be, please press the “I am not sure” button to move on to the next question.
What do the different methods mean?
A therapeutic method is the lens through which a therapist addresses your specific challenge.
Healper has compiled a general overview of definitions for some therapeutic methods here.
Please note that Healper makes no claim in knowing what therapeutic method is best. It is entirely up to you and your therapist to decide.
What languages should I choose?
You should choose the languages which you prefer to talk in when discussing your personal challenges with a therapist. We recommend that you only choose your mother-tongue or languages you speak fluently.
This is not an exhaustive list. If none of these apply to you, please select “other” and write your own. If you have any questions or comments please contact us

What do you mean by therapy at clinic?
When choosing this option, we will match you with therapists who offer therapy at their own clinic.
What do you mean by online therapy?
When choosing online therapy, we will match you with therapists who offer therapy online.
What do you mean by home visits?
When choosing home visits, we will match you with therapists who offers to come to your home and administer the therapy.
Please be advised that home visits may in some instances be more expensive, as you will also pay for the therapist’s transport-time.
Why do you need to know this?
We need to know your age because some therapists are specialized within challenges for different age-groups. This information will never be sent to any third parties.
Why do you need to know this?
The gender you identify with is important to know in some therapies. This could for instance be relevant within therapy regarding questions and challenges of sexual and gender identities.
This information is strictly intended for your therapist and will never be distributed to any third parties.
Why do you need to know this?
We need to know where you travel to therapy from, to find a therapist who isn’t too far away from you.
What do you mean by wheelchair accessible?
Wheelchair accessible is difficult to define as the needs of wheelchair use vary, but in general, when a therapist says their clinic is wheelchair accessible, you should assume that their clinic has doors wide enough, bathrooms equipped, and ramps or lifts for wheelchairs.
What is a normal distance?
A normal distance from you to a practice is hard to define, but as a rule of thumb, if you live in cities with a large population, chances are that there is at most 20 km to a good matching therapist. This however also depends on what you are looking for in a therapist, as some specializations within therapy might be hard to find in certain areas.
If you want the best chance of a great match, and don't care too much about the distance you have to travel, please indicate this by clicking the "above 40 km" button.
What is a private client?
In this instance, a private client should be considered as an individual or group who wants to find a therapist, without regard to whether or not a therapist can offer subsidies.
What do you mean by Sygeforsikring Danmark?
If you are a member of the health insurance called Sygeforsikring Danmark, you are at certain psychologists entitled to subsidies, provided that the therapy is in Denmark and the psychologist is authorized.
To see the amount, you could be entitled to, please read the following: https://www.sygeforsikring.dk/tilskud/psykologhjaelp
What is a client with doctors’ referral?
With a doctor’s referral, you can get a subsidy for psychological therapy. It’s not every psychologist who can offer this subsidy (“ydernummer” (DK)), and therefore, there is a longer waiting time on average when choosing to find a psychologist who can offer therapy with a doctor’s referral.
You can read more about doctors’ referrals at:
